Transplant patients have unique dermatological needs, including:
- Infective skin problems
- Numerous precancerous lesions (actinic keratoses, Bowen's disease)
- Skin cancers
Immunosuppressant drugs used by transplant patients increases the risk of skin cancers. Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) are the most common post-transplant malignancy.
Their problems are often multiple, complex and time consuming.
The Skin & Cancer Foundation Inc's Transplant Clinic is set up to manage the skin of patients who have had organ transplants.
